The degree of proximity between the injury mechanism (accident) and the onset of symptoms reasonably indicating the presence of the injury;
Whether there is a more likely alternative cause for the occurrence of the symptoms at the time of the accident.
In a rear end impact auto collision the mechanism of injury causes an occupant to be thrown backwards into the seat back initially, and then rebounding forward from the compressed and deflected seatback, all taking place in approximately 1/5 of a second.
