In addition to the change in the Statute another significant factor is the predominance of Mothers in the work place.  Mothers can no longer claim Fathers cannot have shared access because of their work schedule.  Also, many Fathers are assuming more of a caregiver role, more shared parental responsibility which adds to circumstances supporting an equal access schedule.
Of most importance, the Court looks to the custody Statute which supports that each parent has significant, meaningful, continuing contact with the children.
